Premier League's Top 10 Worst Transfers In Modern History

Throughout history, there have been good transfers and bad transfers. A good transfer is when the purchased player makes a good impact on the team through their performances. A bad transfer is when the player in question makes no impact or a bad impact on the team with their poor performances.

This is the list of the Premier League's worst transfers in recent history :

Fernando Torres, Liverpool to Chel$ea, £50 million

" You thought I was going to score, didn't you? "

Let's begin with the blue elephant in the room. The fifth highest transfer in football history, £50,000,000 enough to pry him away from Anfield. He was fast. He could finish. He could head the ball as well. This move to Roman Abrahmovich FC should spark the revival of El Nino. Right?

1 season and a half, 67 games and 12 goals later, Fernando Torres is now labelled as the biggest flop in world history. They might just be right.

How can a team turn the world's best striker into a global embarrassment? That's Chel$ea for you.

Jordan Henderson, Sunderland to Liverpool, £20 million

Nope. This isn't a Photoshop. Henderson actually plays for England.

I didn't know who Jordan Henderson was before he moved to Merseyside. Apparently, his 3 goals and 4 assists as an attacking midfielder was enough to convince King Kenny to splash out £20 million on him. He was the Premier League's 3rd leading chance creator in 2010/2011 season, with 78 chances created for his team mates, so I can see the promise that Daglish saw in him.

His debut season for Liverpool was grim as his team finished in ( Can't say this with a straight face ) 8th place. 2 goals and 1 assist is a terrible return for a player valued at that price. If Jordan Henderson is Liverpool's future, well, Everton won't have to worry about them anymore.

Joey Barton, Manchester City to Newcastle, £5.8 million

Barton feigns injury in search of a friend

The Premier League's most hated player. Why Newcastle decided to take a chance on him, I'll never know. The only return they got was red cards and court hearings from him. Sentenced to six months in jail for assaulting a man and a teenager in Liverpool City Centre. Four month suspended sentence after an altercation with his former Manchester City team mate, Ousmane Dabo. And suspension after suspension from the FA.

Andriy Shevchenko, AC Milan to Chel$ea, £30 million

" Come on, the keeper was in the way "

To think Torres was the second world class striker Chel$ea ruined. Shevchenko was a goal scoring machine. He could tuck away a chance from just about anywhere. Mourinho snapped him up for £30 million, with the valuations these days, he was a bargain.

77 games and 22 goals later, Shevchenko had had enough. He completed his move to his homeland, Ukraine, as he joined Dynamo Kyiv.

In mean, one was enough Roman. But two? And apparently Chelsea rule London.

Bebe, Estrela to Manchester United, £7.4 million

Bebe speeds past the Wolves' pacey LB, George Elokobi

Why Sir Alex Ferguson decided to take a punt on someone he had never seen play before, I'll never know. When a Manchester United winger struggles against the mighty Crawley Town of the Blue Square Premier League, you just know he's going nowhere. Loaned out to Besiktas for the 2011-12 season, where he was subsequently dropped from the team due to breaking the team curfew and staying out into the early hours of the morning. Sir Alex must be holding his head in his hands right now....

Roque Santa Cruz, Blackburn to Manchester City, £17.5 million

Santa Cruz's most familiar postion for Manchester City

It wasn't his fault. When you have to overcome Carlos Tevez and Emmanuel Adebayor to get into the starting XI, it's never going to be easy. The Paraguayan hitman had become a cult hero for his former club, Blackburn Rovers, after an excellent debut season where he scored 23 goals and set up 8 for his team mates. Interest from Mansour City distracted Roque in his second season at the club and he scored a meagre 8 goals, a far cry from his earlier heroics. In his two seasons with the big spenders, he scored 4 goals. 4 goals. In 22 games. From Premier League big hitter to bench warming frontman. A lot can happen in 4 years.

Mikael Silvestre, Manchester United to Arsenal, £750k

This was the closest Mikael got to stopping Drogba in a 4-1 loss to Chel$ea

The versatile Frenchman proved to be one of the three bad signings under Arsene Wenger, alongside Francis Jeffers and Pascal Cygan. He was never going to replicate the performances he had made for Manchester United for the past 9 years. He, arguably, gifted Messi's equaliser in Arsenal's 4-1 humiliation at the Nou Camp. Though he scored the first equaliser against Tottenham, he conceded 4 goals. This signing won't be on Wenger's CV I'll tell you now.

Alberto Aquilani, Roma to Liverpool, £20 million

Frank Lampard stares in disbelief at how Aquilani can play for Liverpool

Bought alongside Glen Johnson in the 2009-10 summer transfer window, the Roma playmaker was meant to be the second coming of Andrea Pirlo. Well. It didn't really work out for him. He scored 2 goals in his two seasons with the Reds. After being loaned out to Juventus and AC Milan, his future at Anfield remains in doubt  under the new gaffer, Brendan Rodgers. Like many Serie A players, good in Italy, bad in England. Very lucky to be in the Italy squad for the Euros.

Robinho, Real Madrid to Manchester City, £32.5 million

Robinho suddenly realises that he signed for Manchester City

This signing began the spending spree from Manchester City. Less than 24 hours after the Arab takeover, Manchester City issued a statement of intent with the purchase of the Brazilian show stopper. He started really well, scoring 14 goals as he finished in 4th place in the scoring charts. But the second season...3 months out due to injury. Playing only 12 games. Constantly complaining about the weather. And only scored 1 goal, against the rock solid back four of Scunthorpe United ( FA Cup ).

Value For Money? Not really.

Mario Balotelli, Inter Milan to Manchester City, £24 million

Now imagine what he's like when he's angry

Do I really need to explain why he was such a failure?
  • Within days of joining Manchester City, he was involved in a car crash
  • Drove into a women's prison in a Maserati
  • Threw darts at a youth team player as a training ground prank
  • Turned his garden in his home in Manchester into a racetrack for quadbikes.
  • His infamous " Why Always Me? " celebration against Manchester United
  • That was following a firework set off in his own home by Balotelli himself, the previous day.
  • Broke a 48 hour curfew to nip off for a curry
  • Visited a local church and donated £200. The story hasn't finished yet.
  • He then visited a pub and bought a £1000 round for everyone
  • 4 red cards in two years
*sigh* I just don't know what to do with him.

Top 5 Best Moments As An Arsenal Fan

This is why we are football fans.

Through the bad times, there are always good times. The moments that make us feel like we are invincible, like nothing can stop us. On top of the world.

Here are the Top 5 Best Moments as an Arsenal Fan :

5. Arsenal 1 Manchester City 0, 8th April 2012

This was mainly to send a message to Gael Clichy and Samir Nasri. Money can't buy class. Well, we forgot to factor in an ignorant QPR thug and a Manchester United breakdown.

When Arteta made contact with the ball, we all knew it was in. It was a sensational hit and I'm sure it sent shivers down the spines of every Gooner around the globe.

Manchester City had been parking the bus all game, a regular occurrence at the Emirates *cough*Chelsea*cough*. We had been trying to work the ball into the box, but Vincent Kompany wasn't having any of it. Time after time, we were thwarted by the Belgian stopper. So Mikel took a gamble.

To cap it off, Samir Nasri was substituted after a miserable performance. Ain't life grand?

4. Arsenal 5 Tottenham 2, 26th February 2012

The doubters had been silenced once and for all. Those who believed that Tottenham ruled London were star struck. Never before had a North London derby unfolded like this.

34  minutes into the game at the Emirates and it looked like they were right as Adebayor struck the ball into the net from the penalty spot. Both of Spurs' goals had been very fortunate. Saha's early opener of 4' took a wicked deflection of an outstretched Thomas Vermaelen and looped over Szczesny into the back of the net. 1-0. Luka Modric slotted the ball between Kieran Gibbs and Vermaelen for Gareth Bale to run on to. Bale, who knew he couldn't score, slammed the ball away and went down under a non-existent tackle from Wojiech. The three players protested against the award of a penalty kick. Television replays backed their claim. Mike Dean pointed to the spot.

So it was up to Arsenal to climb out of the dire situation themselves. And they did so in some fashion.

The remaining Spurs fans at the end of the match were shell shocked. They couldn't believe what they had just seen. Arsenal 5 Tottenham 2.

London was, and is, well and truly RED.

3. Arsenal 2 Barcelona 1, 16th February 2011

It's nights like these that really make you feel invincible. This is how you beat Barcelona, Chelsea, watch and learn.

When we were drawn against Barcelona for the second year running, we were all dreading a reunion with our old foe, Lionel Messi. When the match came, the questions were filled in our mind.

How many goals will they put past us this time?
Will Messi score 4 again?

None of us were really 100% that Arsenal would win this game. We had a feeling. Only a feeling.

It seemed like all of our hopes were dashed in the 26' when David Villa slotted the ball home after an incisive Messi pass split the Arsenal back four.

But we were actually taking the game to the Catalan side. Actually keeping possession and making swift attacks with an inspired Jack Wilshere leading the way.

Even now, I get shivers when I see Van Persie's audacious piledriver and Arshavin bury the ball into the bottom corner. The roar, the joy and the excitement. We had not only beaten Barcelona, we had come back from behind to do so. How many teams have done that? None.

2. Arsenal 1 Leeds 0, 9th January 2012

From the outside, Arsenal 1 Leeds 0 looks like a straight forward match up. But you had to be there to see what makes this second in the list.

Whoever wrote the script for this match, did a blinding job. Who really could have predicted that, on his return, Thierry Henry would score the winner for Arsenal once more? Who?

Songinho, with his Fabregas-like vision, found Henry between the RB and the CB. This was the moment. The moment that we had been waiting for. With a deft touch, Henry positioned himself. As he struck the ball home, in a manner reminiscent of his old self, the 59,615 crowd were ecstatic. The King had returned, and how. Definitely one of those nights that will live long in the memory of the Arsenal fan.

1. Arsenal 4 Cardiff 0, 16th February 2009

Again, not a game to get the title aspirations up, but again the return of an Emirates favourite. Eduardo.

51 weeks after breaking his leg, the Croatia striker made his comeback in an FA Cup tie against Cardiff in what was one of the most emotional nights in Arsenal's history.

His celebration after his first goal, when he fell to his knees in a moment of joy, remains an iconic image of Eduardo. He had a tear in his eye when the ball hit the net. After a long road to recovery, he was now back in action. Had it not been for Martin Taylor's stupid tackle, we'd be describing Eduardo with the same superlatives saved for his former team mate, Robin Van Persie. The best finisher in the Premier League in his time with the Gunners. If the survival of the human race depended on Eduardo slotting home a 1-on-1 chance against the keeper, he'd do it, with ease. I'm looking forward to watching him once again in the Euros this summer.

Top 5 Worst Moments As An Arsenal Fan

It's not easy. Being an Arsenal fan. Just ask this guy.

Being constantly ridiculed by your friends:
" Empty Trophy Cabinet"
"8 years"
" Obafemi Martins"

We have our moments of glory, and moments of utter despair.

Here are the Top 5 Worst Moments for the Arsenal faithful, in my opinion:

5. Manchester United 8 Arsenal 2, 28th August 2011

On the bright side, we scored the highest number of goals we'd ever amassed at Old Trafford in the history of the Premier League. On the other hand, we conceded the highest number of goals ever between Us and Manchester United in the history of the Premier League. This was a strong Manchester United against a damaged Arsenal. We gave starts to Carl Jenkinson, Francis Coquelin and Armand Traore on the biggest stage in England. The numbers on the bench for Manchester United added up to 106. Arsenal's bench : 267. Given the heavy defeat we were handed, the game was actually pretty end-to-end, Manchester United accumulated 25 shots, Arsenal made 19 shots, for a defeat that humiliating, the result does not actually reflect the performance.

But we were in for a rough fortnight us Arsenal fans:

" #i'd8-2beanarsenalfan" - Twitter Trend
" Ha ha i'd 8-2 be an arsenal fan" - Facebook status

The social media websites were filled with comments like these. It was a wake up call for Arsene Wenger. And at the expense of the dignity of the Arsenal supporters.

4. Arsenal 2 Tottenham 3, 20th November 2010

This was more of a shock than painful. Every year, we were expected to put our North London rivals, Tottenham, to the sword. And we had done for many years. The previous year, we had lost, due to an injury crisis in the team, 2-1 to a spectacular Danny Rose debut goal and a close range finish from Gareth Bale. But now we had everyone back for this game. Fabregas, Nasri, Van Persie. We were a shoe in.

45 minutes later, we were elated. Samir Nasri's tight finish and Chamakh's gambling tap gave us a 2-0 lead at our own ground.

45 minutes later, we were shell shocked. Gareth Bale, Rafael Van Der Vaart and Younes Kaboul had struck for Tottenham to give them a 3-2 lead.

I remember myself just staring into open space. Just staring. Still trying to comprehend what had just happened. And I mentally prepared myself for the inevitable grilling I was to face on Monday from my Spurs supporting friends (L*ke H*ll).

We weren't the only team in North London.

3. Nasri leaving Arsenal to Manchester City, 24th August 2011

Now we knew nobody was safe.

We had now lost 4 key players to the Manchester giants in Emmanuel Adebayor, Kolo Toure, Gael Clichy and Samir Nasri. It wouldn't be long before the likes of Robin Van Persie, Theo Walcott and Jack Wilshere appear in the City crosshairs.

It was also a stab in the back by the Frenchman, he had become the best CAM in the Premier League at Arsenal, they had guided him to the stardom that now surrounds him, and he'd just thrown it back in our faces.

He shouldn't feel glory now that he has won the Premier League. Silva, Aguero, Kompany, Yaya Toure and Joe Hart should be the only players in the team who should receive a medal for their efforts. They've carried their team to this silverware with their virtuoso performances week in week out. The rest are hanger-ons.

2. Carling Cup Final 2011, 27th February 2011

That was the game. The game that could have changed Arsenal. From winning the cup, we would have had the confidence to go on and possibly win the title in the same season. But we didn't in dramatic circumstances.

The second half was Arsenal vs Ben Foster, the Birmingham defence was hapless, but Ben Foster put in a match winning performance to keep the Blues in the game. A free kick from Foster inside him own third of the pitch found the giant Nikola Zigic, who flicked the ball on. But it was going straight to the out rushing Wojiech Szczesny. But Laurent Koscielny intervened. The second that followed decided their future. Laurent measured himself to clear the ball, but backed out at the last minute. Szczesny fumbled the ball, unfortunately straight into the path of the substitute Obafemi Martins.

It could have been all so different.

1. Eduardo injury, 23rd February 2008

Emptiness. That's all we felt on that fateful day. Just emptiness.

We knew we were sunk. When I saw the looks on the faces of our player : Fabregas, Hleb, Sagna and Adebayor. I knew we'd lose the title race, and maybe even lose the game. We were flying at the top of the table and were looking like genuine title winners. But Martin Taylor had to rip the script.

I could have been us who won the 2007/08 title...

Cole vs Baines : Who is the best LB in the Premier League?

Upon his departure from Arsenal to Chelsea, after infamously rejecting a £55,000 a week contract to remain with the Gunners, Cole has developed his defensive game to become the best LB in the WORLD. Yes, the WORLD. Forget about Patrice Evra and Eric Abidal, Ashley Cole is in another league. Can dribble like a LW, cross like LM, and still defend like a LB.

But Leighton Baines, possibly, has matched him this season. Being linked with a move to Manchester United and Tottenham, Baines has proven himself to be the best LB in the Premier League this season.

Or has he?

Assists

Ashley Cole helped out his team mates 6 times last season.

Leighton Baines made 2 assists last season.

1-0 Ashley Cole opens the scoring

Tackles

Ashley Cole made 80 tackles in the 2011/2012 season.

Leighton Baines made 57 tackles in the 2011/2012 season.

2-0 Ashley Cole doubles the lead

Interceptions

Ashley Cole broke up 50 attacks by his opponent.

Leighton Baines broke up 65 attacks by his opponent.

2-1 Baines grabs a goal back

Fouls

Ashley Cole made 31 fouls last season.

Leighton Baines made 31 fouls last season.

3-2 Two goals in quick succession from each side

Accuracy of Crosses

Out of the 76 crosses Ashley Cole made, 17 of them were accurate. 22%

Out of the 242 crosses Leighton Baines made, 67 of them were accurate. 28%

3-3 Leighton Baines scores a late leveller

So, stats-wise, Leighton Baines has matched the exploits of Ashley Cole in the 2011/12 season.

Sagna vs Walker : Who is the best RB in the Premier League?

Arsenal's 'Mr Consistent' has been the Premier League's best RB since joining from Auxerre 4 years ago. Featuring in the PFA Team Of The Year twice for his excellent performances in his debut season, 2007/08, and the 2010/11 season. No-one could deny that Bacary was the best RB in the Premier League in any of his seasons in English football, until now.

Enter Kyle Walker. He can attack like Dani Alves, defend like Roberto Carlos, and has the stamina of Cafu. Tottenham are very lucky to have him. Their right side is looking secure for the future. Unrelated to his qualities at RB, he possesses the shot of a central midfielder, as demonstrates with spectacular goals against Arsenal and Blackburn.

Assists

Bacary Sagna made 2 assists in his 20 Premier League appearances.

Kyle Walker made 1 assist in his 37 Premier League appearances.

1-0 Sagna's strike ripples the net

Tackles

Bacary Sagna averaged 2 tackles per game, and totalled 41 tackles in his 20 Premier League games. Had he completed as many games as Kyle Walker, he would have totalled 75 tackles.

Kyle Walker averaged 2.9 tackles per game, and totalled 97 tackles in his 37 Premier League games.

1-1 Walker levels the scoring

Interceptions

Bacary Sagna averaged 1.7 interceptions per game, and totalled 35 interceptions in his 20 Premier League appearances. Had he completed as many games as Kyle Walker, he would have totalled 64 interceptions.

Kyle Walker amassed 60 interceptions in his 37 games for Tottenham.

2-1 Sagna regains the lead

Fouls

Bacary Sagna made 12 fouls in his 20 games for Arsenal last season. Had he played the 37 games that Kyle Walker played, he would have accumulated 22 fouls.

Kyle Walker amassed 33 fouls in the 2011/2012 season.

3-1 Sagna moves into a seemingly unassailable lead. Surely it's over...

Accuaracy of Crosses

Bacary Sagna made a total of 88 crosses in the 2011/2012 season, with 20 of them being accurate.

Kyle Walker made a total of 106 crosses in the 2011/2012 season, with 18 of them being accurate.

4-1 ....It is now!!

So, surely there is no doubt that Bacary Sagna retains his title as The Best RB In The Premier League.

Cue Liverpool fans putting forward their argument that Glen Johnson is the best RB in the Premier League.

Toure vs Song : Who is the best CDM in the Premier League?

Following the rise of Sergio Busquets from Barcelona B team to 1st team regular, the Catalan giants had no place for Ivorian Yaya Toure. So Pep Guardiola allowed him to leave to ply his trade elsewhere on the continent.

How Barcelona could have used him now. The Premier League's best Box-to-Box midfielder since Patrick Vieira. Arguably, his brace against Newcastle in the penultimate game of the season won Mansour City the title. Able to apply an aggressive tackle at one end of the pitch, and effortless tuck a shot home at the other.

But then there's Alex Song.

Earlier in his career, Song was deployed as either a Ball Winning Midfielder or a Stopper at Centre Back, a no nonsense tackler whose sole purpose is to gain possession of the ball and distribute it to the most creative midfielders. Now, Song is being compared to Cesc Fabregas, the maestro of Arsenal until his departure to his boyhood club, Barcelona. And Arsenal look to him to be the creative midfielder.

Question is. Who's been better this season?

Tackles

Song has made 100 tackles throughout the 2011/2012 season.

Yaya Toure has made 55 tackles throughout the 2011/2012 season.

1-0 Song opens the scoring

Fouls

Song made 73 fouls last term.

While Yaya Toure only made 31 fouls.

1-1 Toure hits the equaliser

Interceptions

Song broke up play 66 times last season.

Yaya Toure broke up play 39 times last season.

2-1 Song restores the lead

Dribbled by another player

Song was dribbled past 46 times in the 2011/2012 season.

Yaya Toure was only passed 28 times.

2-2 Toure equalises again

Assists

Song helped out his team mates 11 times last season.

Yaya Toure assisted his peers 6 times last season.

3-2 Song scores a late goal. Surely it's over...

Key Passes

Song made 46 key passes last term.

Yaya Toure made 54 key passes last term.

3-3 He's done it. A late equaliser shares the spoils between the two players.

Here's something that will please many Arsenal fans, and cause envy among the other supporters of different clubs : Yaya Toure is 29, Alex Song is 24.

So Alex Song, at 24, is as good, if not better, than 29 year old Yaya Toure.

The future is looking very bright.

Bale vs Mata : Who is the best LW in the Premier League?

I don't know must be going through Bale's mind right now. Three years ago, it looked like Spurs had him all wrong as a future world beater. He was dropped for Benoit Assou Ekotto at LB and was an understudy for most of the season.

Three years later, he is now the most dangerous LW in the Premier League. His majestic performances propelled Tottenham into the Champions League, established the club as top 4 contenders, and, as Rafael Van Der Vaart put it, 'killed' Maicon. Not bad for a season's work.

But for the second year in a row, he's being challenged for that title of Best LW in the Premier League.

Last year it was $amir Na$ri who pushed him, this year, Chel$ea's Juan Mata.

Snatched from Arsenal's grasp in last summer's transfer window, Mata has been Chel$ea's best signing since  Michael Ballack in 2007. He has been their best performer this season without a doubt, without The Blues would have been dead and buried a long time ago.

Goals

Juan Mata hit 6 goals last season in the Premier League last season.

Gareth Bale stormed forward to score 9 goals last season.

1-0 Gareth Bale opens the scoring

Assists

Gareth Bale recorded 10 assists last season.

Juan Mata helped out his team mates 13 times.

1-1 Juan Mata scores the equaliser

Successful Dribbles

Gareth Bale made a total of 65 successful dribbles last season.

Juan Mata made a total of 30 successful dribbles last season.

2-1 Gareth Bale restores the lead

Key Passes

Gareth Bale made 84 key passes throughout the season.

Juan Mata made 102 key passes throughout the season.

2-2 Mata hits the equaliser

Crosses

Out of the 195 crosses that Bale made, 46 of them were accurate.

Out of the 236 crosses that Mata made, 61 of them were accurate.

3-2 Bale hits the winner ( He was more efficient)

So there we are, Gareth Bale IS the best LW in the Premier League. But Mata isn't very far behind...

Valencia vs Walcott : Who is the best RW in the Premier League?

When Sir Alex Ferguson signed Antonio Valencia from Wigan in 2009, he bought him with the aim of replacing Cristiano Ronaldo following his £80 million transfer to Real Madrid. Many eyebrows were raised. Names like Franck Ribery, David Silva and Arjen Robben were being thrown around by the media and Fergie chooses Valencia? But he was right. Very very right.

29 assists later, Valencia has established himself as the most dangerous RW in the Premier League. His speed and power make him a handful for any LB.

Before you slate me for choosing Theo Walcott to challenge Valencia, think to yourself. Who else could? Who else could really trouble Valencia for that title of best RW in Premier League? Downing? Milner? Coleman? Sturridge? Ben Arfa? None of the above.

Goals

Theo Walcott scored 8 goals in the Premier League last season.

Antonio Valencia hit 4 goals last season.

1-0 Walcott takes a surprise lead

Assists

Antonio Valencia assisted him team mates 14 times last season.

Theo Walcott helped his team mates 9 times last season.

1-1 Valencia equalises

Successful Dribbles

Antonio Valencia completed 35 dribbles last season.

Theo Walcott also completed 35 dribbles last season.

2-2 Two goals in quick succession from both sides

Key Passes

Antonio Valencia made 65 key passes last season.

Theo Walcott made 41 key passes last season.

3-2 Antonio Valencia takes the lead

Crosses

Out of the 178 crosses Antonio Valencia made, 45 were accurate.

Out of the 134 crosses Theo Walcott made, 18 were accurate.

4-2 Valencia increases the deficit

As expected, Antonio Valencia beats Theo Walcott in most categories and secures his place as The Best RW In The Premier League.

Friday 1 June 2012

Van Persie vs Rooney : Who is the best ST in the Premier League?

It's been coming. Finally a season of a fully fit Van Persie. Without ever being troubled by a knee or ankle problem, Robin Van Persie has silenced his critics in fashion, collecting the PFA Player of the Year award after hitting 37 goals for club & country throughout the 2011/2012 season. Proving himself to be the best striker in the world. Or is he?

Even after his prolific season with Arsenal, England's Wayne Rooney has fashioned another stellar season of his own.

But who has been the better player?

Goals

Robin Van Persie has scored 30 goals domestically, and 7 goals in other competitions.

Wayne Rooney has scored 27 goals domestically, and 7 goals in other competitions.

1-0 Van Persie strikes again

Assists

Wayne Rooney helped out his team mates 4 times throughout the season.

Robin Van Persie helped out his team mates 9 time throughout the season.

2-0 Robin Van Persie gets on the score sheet again

Key Passes

Robin Van Persie has made 92 key passes.

Wayne Rooney only made 51 key passes.

3-0 Van Persie has stormed into a seemingly unassailable lead

Offsides

Robin Van Persie has been caught offside 44 times.

Wayne Rooney, playing the much deeper role, has been caught offside only 2 times.

3-1 Surely a consolation goal..

Dispossessed & Turnovers

Robin Van Persie has been dispossessed 90 times and has given away possession 52 times.

Wayne Rooney has been dispossessed 73 times and has given away possession 51 times.

3-3 Unbelievable! Rooney has equalised!

Successful Dribbles

Robin Van Persie has completed 42 dribbles.

Wayne Rooney has completed 33 dribbles.

4-3 RVP restores the lead

No doubt about it. RVP has been the best player in the Premier League this season. Overtaking Wayne Rooney and David Silva in the process. The Dutch's chances of winning Euro 2012 is looking promising.
